Does anyone know if these guys run in and out of Holbrook in any predictable manner? I'm going to be in the area the last week of August and would be interested in shooting them to break up the monotony of the usual suspects on the Transcon.

Hi Sean,

Welcome to the site!  For the Apache Railway, they are usually a Tuesday/Thursday operation.  Some weeks they are as needed.  The best way to know, is to call the garage the day before and ask the when they will be heading to Holbrook, the storage track or the pig farm.  The number is (928) 536-4696 and I believe it is Mon-Fri.  They are very RailFan Friendly and they will give you their schedule for the next day if they are working.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, Jeff. It's almost hard to fathom there are still operations that will give info out by phone like that in this day and age. So many places where I am (PA) are so tired of dealing with the mega-foamers.

You are welcome Sean, Apache Rwy when we were there last (a few months ago), they were still RailFan Friendly.   8)

Hi, Newbie here and am hopefully planning a trip to the area and also would like to catch the Apache in action.
I saw the earlier post and am wondering is the Apache still railfan friendly.

TIA

Welcome Stuart!  Yes, they are still very friendly.  I believe they are Tue-Thurs operations now. However, give them a ring and let them know you want to "RailFan" their operations and they will let you know details when they leave and so forth.  A great bunch over there.
